Dear friends,
On the eve of the general election, we can be very proud of what we have accomplished.
For nearly a year, we have taken every opportunity to make the city aware of the experience, dedication and vision we offer. We have put forth specific plans and proposals to fight violent crime and steer young people away from gangs, generate jobs, boost the local economy, provide property tax relief, and maintain Omaha’s economic momentum.
It’s time to put an exclamation point on our efforts by exercising our right to vote tomorrow.
I thank all my supporters who have cast early ballots. If you have not yet voted, please take the time to vote tomorrow. If you have friends who don’t think they can make it to their polling place, offer them a ride. If you need help finding your polling place, please click here. This is expected to be a very close race. Every vote will make a difference.
We couldn’t have come this far without the support of so many friends and hard-working volunteers. I invite you to join Mary and me tomorrow evening at Regency Lodge off of 107th and Pacific (909 S 107th Ave) beginning at 7 p.m. as we celebrate the election returns.
I am deeply grateful for your vote tomorrow, and I look forward to continuing to work together as we shape Omaha’s future.
All the best,

Dear Friend,Once again, I would like to thank you for all your help and support during my race for Mayor. Immediately following the primary I endorsed Hal Daub because he is the only candidate in the race to offer specific plans to lead Omaha forward. Hal has a proven track record of leadership, vision and results. He is the right person to fix the police and fire pensions, stop violent crime and help grow our local economy. Tomorrow Omaha voters will be going to the polls to cast their ballot in this critical election. I ask you to join me in ensuring Omaha's future by voting for Hal tomorrow. Thank you again for your support and let's make sure Hal Daub is elected as Omaha's next Mayor. Best, Jim Vokal Omaha World-Herald endorses Hal Daub for MayorNotes Suttle's lack of specifics & strained relations with City HallMay 6, 2009
The Omaha World-Herald strongly endorsed Hal Daub for Mayor today. Below are a few highlights. To read the full endorsement, click here.
... On the crime issue, Daub is right that Omaha should strive to put more officers on the street. At the same time, he balances that approach with support for programs to help disadvantaged youths. Daub’s opponent, Jim Suttle, is a serious-minded, honorable Omahan. But at a time of such challenge for the city, his record and campaign approach give pause about how well-suited he would be to meet the tasks that lie ahead. Suttle’s campaign has been remarkable for leaving so many questions unanswered about the specific options that he would consider to address important issues. Daub’s campaign, in contrast, has stood out for its notable outpouring of proposals. .... Omaha finds itself in tough times. It needs a leader with ability, knowledge and energy to steer the city through the current crisis and toward new progress as an ambitious, future-focused city. There’s one mayoral contender who is best suited, through experience and demonstrated competence, to meet that task. He’s Hal Daub. EndorsementsHal Daub / Campaign OfficeApril 13, 2009
This morning's bipartisan endorsement is humbling, and is historic in Nebraska politics. For a candidate for mayor of the state's largest city to receive such broad-based support from elected officials, business and labor -- all in the room at one time -- demonstrates the importance of being connected to a network of those individuals, in partnership, that make things happen. This will be an invaluable resource for Omaha's benefit. I will be drawing on these current and former elected officials for advice and help to move Omaha forward if I am privileged to be your next mayor.
Here's a partial list (to be updated) of the 73 current and former elected officials--Demcorat and Republican--who endorsed Hal this morning: Sen. Mike Johanns - U.S. Senator - Nebraska

In order for their name to be placed on the ballot, each candidate must collect 1,000 signatures from registered voters in Omaha. The deadline for turning in these signatures and officially filing with the Douglas County Election Commission is March 6th. Thanks to the many hundreds from all over Omaha who signed our petition forms, and to the dozens of tireless workers who collected these signatures, Hal was able to file his candidacy over a month before that deadline! We couldn't have done it without you. This is a great help to our team, since it allows us to turn our attention to other priorities sooner. Thanks to you all for your help. Martin Luther King, Jr. DayHal DaubJanuary 19, 2009
Every year on this holiday I remember two dates: Not many people know this about me, but I took part in the March on Washington, and was there in person on August 28, 1963 to hear Martin Luther King deliver his “I Have a Dream” speech. Almost exactly 20 years later, on August 2, 1983, while representing Omaha in Congress, I broke with our Nebraska Delegation (which included two Democratic Senators) and cast my vote to establish the national holiday we celebrate today in his honor. Tomorrow the National Mall will be filled with people, as it was the day Dr. King gave his address; but this time they will be turned the other direction, toward the Capitol Dome, to hear the oath of office administered to our first black president. I’m sorry Dr. King won’t be here to see it. Even in his sacrifice, his life is an example of the triumph of justice over evil, and his work reminds us all of the inherent dignity and value of every single person. It is good that we remember him today.

Thanksgiving Message from HalHal DaubNovember 27, 2008
This week begins a special time of year when we all think more about families, our spiritual blessings and just how lucky we are to live in the greatest country on earth.
Thanksgiving’s roots go back to the pilgrims who celebrated and gave thanks for their fall harvest. Like them we still give thanks not only for a bountiful harvest but also for our family, friends and many blessings.
We are certainly blessed to live in the United States and even more so to live in a uniquely great city like Omaha.
As Mary and I spend the next several days celebrating these blessings with our children and grandchildren, we wish you and yours a truly happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

This morning, Hal became the first to officially file his candidacy to be Omaha's next mayor.
"It has been a pleasure for me to volunteer my time and efforts in facilitating the election of Hal Daub as Mayor of Omaha in 2009. As a former two-term Mayor of Bellevue, and as a school administrator in the Omaha area for almost a decade, I have viewed Hal’s accomplishments both as a Congressman and as Mayor of the great city of Omaha as nothing short of outstanding.

I want to welcome Scott Knudsen to our campaign. Scott is a friend and long-time volunteer who has accepted the responsibility of managing our ward and precinct organization.
In order for a candidate to place their name on the ballot next spring, they must submit nominating petitons that show 1,000 registered voters in Omaha support their candidacy. We started that effort on Monday, with our kickoff announcment, and I want to congratulate Joe McDaniel for being the first volunteer to return a completed form with 20 valid signatures. Thanks, Joe!
